Duong Nhu Nguyen

Wendy Nicole Duong, née Duong Nhu Nguyen, is a former Associate Municipal Judge for the City of Houston and Magistrate for the State of Texas. She was honored by the American Bar Association in New York City as among "Pioneer Women of Color in the Judiciary." From 2001 to 2011, she was a law professor at the University of Denver. In the literary field, she won the Republic of Vietnam's last "National Women's Literature Honor Award" in 1975. She published many novels and poetic works. One of her novels, "Mimi and Her Mirror," won the Multicultural Fiction International Book Award in 2012. She studied performing arts at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, journalism and communication at Southern Illinois University. She earned her Doctorate in law at the University of Houston and Master of Laws at Harvard University. She currently practices law in Houston and writes full-time.
